Q. What standards should you use when picking out a character’s partner?
A. You should consider their potential true name, first of. See what they have in common; people can be total opposites, but still have one thing that unites them, even if it holds different meaning to each of them. Second, you should consider the other player; do you enjoy RPing with them, can you get along without crossing/mixing IC/OOC, and do they want what you want. Thirdly, do NOT discuss having your team being romantically involved, please. I’m not saying partnered characters cannot be romantic pairings; in fact, it’s encouraged. But here, we prefer to see that relationship develop naturally, through IC interactions; rather than OOCly going “yeah I like this pairing. -character automatically likes other character-”, if you catch my drift. That’s the point of an RP- letting your character grow, develop and interact without every little thing being planned out. It keeps you on your toes and makes everything much more fun and interesting! You can either talk to another player and decide this, post a wanted add for a partner for your character, or go into Carrot’s Mixing Bowl, if you can’t decide. In which said Carrot will randomize partners, for something new and exciting, you might never have done before!
Q. How do Named cope before finding their other half?
A. Just like any other person. Family, school, friends, work, ect. It’s not until their name fully forms on their body, that they find their higher sense of being, and realize that they are truly not alone in this world. In the time between their name appearing, and meeting their other half, however.. They will often find themselves becoming a bit more withdrawn. They will get lost frequently; searching for something they can’t quite put their finger on. They often space out and daydream more than before. They become more adventurous and often go to or travel to places they never wanted to before, compelled by the instinct to seek out their other half.
Q. How do Named find each other?
A. Fate, naturally. They are so drawn towards each other like magnets, that it actually begins to affect the world around them. Fate-powered events driving them in each other’s direction, even from opposite sides of the world. For those who become fully aware of what they are so desperate to find; they may begin to actively start searching, or even putting up ads or things in hopes of finding their partner sooner. For those who don’t, it’s just one fated occurrence after another until they wind up meeting, or even walking past one another in a crowded city before an uncontrollable happiness wells up within them, growing stronger the nearer they get. Then their eyes may meet and they just known they aren’t strangers, despite never having met. They just know they are so much more to each other than they ever could have imagined. Instead of a “Uh...h-hi.. Who are you..?”, it’s more that the first thing they say to one another, rather than a greeting, is their True Name, though for more oblivious people, it takes a while for this to happen. Once that name is spoken, however, it’s almost as if a reservoir of familiarity and fondness breaks and it all comes back to them. They may have been strangers until that moment, but they know each-other more than they may even know themselves.
Q. How do I decide a True Name?
A. This is harder than deciding/finding a partner. Personally, it took days of me going through a list of words until one finally jumped out at my muse. You just have to keep looking until something clicks and you know you’ve got a good name that suits your character. From there, you need to write up a short little explanation, telling what that Name means and why it fits your character. Or, if you’re really stumped! Once again, you can go into Carrot’s Mixing Bowl, in which said Carrot will review the application and thoughtfully assign a True Name and meaning for your character.
